We enjoyed our stay at Sunken Lake Cottage. Everything was really nice and peaceful on the back covered porch. Our son caught a 4 lb largemouth bass out of the lake and several pike. As a couple, we watched deer on the far shoreline and even two bald eagles.
My 3 year old granddaughter calls it the treehouse because of all the trees on the property. Very private, very clean. My entire family, including the dogs had a wonderful weekend. Everything we needed was provided, even cornhole boards.
My family and I truly enjoyed our stay here. The property was clean and stocked with everything we needed. Being right off the lake was really a great experience as well. We would certainly stay here again. Thank you Tammy for being a great host.
We met friends at Hemlock Hills for a long weekend, and it was perfect! With 4 adults, 10 kids and a dog, we needed a lot of space. The Mill House and the property were just what we needed. Lots of space to hang out and play inside and out. We all enjoyed the river SO MUCH! Canoes, kayaks, swimming, frog-hunting, exploring! Thanks to Mitchell, Tammy and the crew for a lovely stay.
We had a very pleasant time at the cottage – it was great! Had a paddleboat and two kayaks for strolling down the river. The owners were very hospitable and if you needed anything they were a quick phone call away. My only issue was there was no hair dryer, so kinda looked like a rat after showers, but hey, that is what camping is all about, right? That was the only thing that was a minor issue, otherwise we were very pleased with everything else there. We would return in the future and will recommend it to others as well. Thank you Tammy and Mitch!
This home was amazing! Not only is it decorated beautifully, has updated appliances, it is also the cleanest rental we have ever stayed in. This cabin was spotless! We had a total of 11 people and there was plenty of space for all of us. The weather was great, so we did not spend much time inside and there was so much to do outside. We all enjoyed the paddle boats and kayaks that were supplied. We had our four grandchildren with us and they thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the river, taking nature walks, and fishing from the shore. Our grandson who is three caught his first fish here! We cannot say enough about Tammy who was there to greet us and was very accommodating. She brought movies for the kids to watch at night and made a special trip to bring my husband a book to read regarding the history of the area and the Mill. I would recommend touring the Mill – it was very interesting. We had a great time and plan to come back. We would highly recommend this home. Thank you for a wonderful family vacation.
This property was perfect for our family of 9 adults and 3 children. It was private and self-contained. We brought all of our food. We did some fishing and used the paddle boat. The fire pit was used nightly. The open space on the main floor of the house was perfect for cooking and gathering to eat at one long table. We would recommend this property for anyone looking to spend time with nature and loved ones.
We had our wedding at Hemlock Hills on Mill Pond, and we HIGHLY recommend this venue to anyone. Tammy and Mitchell were fabulous to work with!! Tammy (and her family) made the wedding day go by SO smoothly. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful. The venue is reasonably priced, especially for 3 nights plus a house on site included. All our guests were very impressed by the venue and property. We are hoping to rent “the Cabin” within the next year, too. If you’re looking for a venue for a “destination wedding” look no further.
We stayed last year and loved it. We love the updates and the peaceful setting. No phone, no internet! Simply wonderful. We are already looking forward to next year!
This is our first visit. We came up with another family who stayed in what we call the big house. We love it up here. The fishing and kayaking are great and saw a lot of deer. Caught a lot of fish and had a big fish fry. Very quiet and peaceful.
We needed at least four bedrooms for this family gathering. Texas, Alaska and Florida came together for four days in one house that we didn’t really mean to choose, but what a great choice it turned out to be. We had five bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, the kitchen was well-stocked and that meant breakfast was easily prepared. The dining area was great. My oldest son maybe forgot that there was cable TV and internet and the kids were outside all weekend. We also had that lazy river where the kids and took turns with the kayaks and paddle boat and the adults got to see beavers and deer and rabbits along the Thunder Bay as they slow-paddled. We had about 30 people gathered and plenty of room for dinner, and enjoyed hiking in old-growth forest. The hosts even shut off the security light so we could stargaze in the perfect darkness. EXCELLENT
I was blessed with the opportunity to hold the first wedding on the property, and to utilize the newly remodeled barn and pavilion. It was an amazing experience! All of our guests said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to, and were blown away by the gorgeous setting; with the Thunder Bay River winding through the property, rolling fields, and the historic Grist Mill as a backdrop. The venue was so gorgeous with the big barn and wagon wheel chandeliers. The pavilion was perfect, with a serving kitchen, dining area, bar and bathrooms, all constructed in barn wood. The property has a large fire pit, and wooden porch swings tucked in along the river, the perfect place to watch the stars. I cannot say enough positive about our experience!
What a beautiful stay! We wish we could stay all week. Initially, we were going to spend a day at the beach, and then realized we don’t need to leave! Kayaking, fishing and bonfires, we did it all – and had such a great time making memories with our family, Very clean, flexible and accommodating. We will be back again.
We absolutely loved this place. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. There was plenty of wood for cozy fires in the fire pit. The property itself is incredible. Very private, peaceful and relaxing, yet only a few miles from the town of Posen if you happen to need anything. We spent a lot of time lounging on the deck facing the pond, enjoying the breeze and watching the various wildlife. We enjoyed a bit of fishing. There are acres of beautiful woods to hike through. It very much exceeded our expectations. We’re already talking about when we can go back, as leaving such a wonderful place was the only sad part of our getaway weekend.
Absolutely a great getaway for everyone! Cottage has everything you need and more. Very, very clean. It is located off a country road, nested in the middle of large trees, with a beautiful view on the river and surroundings. We just loved our stay here and are longing to come back again. Fishing was great too!
It was so beautiful, peaceful and serene. It actually sleeps 7, as there is a chair in the upper level that folds out into a small bed, which my Grandson slept on and loved it. The house is very clean and well kept. It had everything we needed. The boys fished and went on the paddle boat, we walked the trails, and walked down across from the Mill and took pictures. All my friends love the pictures. We saw lots of wildlife too — can’t wait to go back!
We had a wonderful stay. Beautiful property. Walked the many trails. Saw deer and turkey everyday. Fishing is excellent. Home is very comfortable. Can’t wait to get back.
If that’s what you’re looking for this is the place for you. Sit on the deck over looking the river and kick back. The cabin has everything you need to enjoy your stay up north. All new and very clean. We enjoyed siting on the deck at night with nice campfire and watching wildlife come out to river. Deep, beaver and otters. Birds of all sizes and colors. Liked watching the kingfishers catch minnows and fly them back to nest waiting babies. All day they did this. Amazing. Fishing in front of cabin was very good. Smallmouth bass and a few largemouth. Nice size pike, too. you wouldn’t think they would be as big as they are. Overall, a very nice place to relax and unwind. I will be going back next year for sure.
We’ve had the pleasure of staying at the Hemlock Hills cabin twice so far and we’re already booked again for this year. The property is gorgeous! It’s very secluded and peaceful. There are awesome walking trails right behind the cabin. We enjoyed fishing on the river.Tooling around the river and pond in a paddle boat was a lot of fun as well. We spent each late afternoon on the large deck facing the pond. The sunsets were beautiful. There was a nice variety of wildlife such as geese, swans, deer, otters and chipmunks. We can’t say enough about how much we love this place. Now when we leave, we’re already anticipating the next time we’ll be able to visit!
This place has tons of charm; simply beautiful. Thank you for opening your home to our family. Will definitely recommend!
This place is amazing! Thanks for being so kind! We had a wonderful time.
Thank you for a wonderful day!
Beautiful place, with much charm and vision.
Our first visit, we had a fantastic time! One problem…not enough time to really appreciate all there is to offer! We’ll be back!!
Great stay, would be a great place to bring family and/or friends. Kayaking was great, wish the water level hadn’t been so low. Visiting the falls was beautiful!
